Description
Opened in 2014, the Pousada Serra da Estrela is the newest addition to the Pousadas of Portugal Group. This luxury hotel in Serra da Estrela Natural Park, one of the most visited sites in inland Portugal, is located at a height of 1200 metres. Guests can enjoy the magnificent, dramatic views of the surrounding area whilst using the hotel’s excellent facilities.
This Pousada was built in the early 20th century and was a sanitorium for many years due to its location and the purity of the mountain air. It has been completely refurbished by award-winning architect Eduardo Souto Moura and now offers luxurious facilities, including a spa and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
The Pousada Serra da Estrela hotel has 90 bedrooms, including 37 superior rooms, 2 spa bedrooms and 12 suites. There are also 2 rooms suitable for guests with limited mobility. All rooms have en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, hairdryer, flat screen TV, desk, telephone, mini-bar.
The Pousada is ideally located for exploring the Natural Park, and the many historical villages, castles and museums in the surrounding area. In winter months the landscape is covered in snow, ideal for skiing and snow bording at the nearby ski resort. In spring, the snow gives way to lush landscapes with new tracks and places to discover.

Hola, Escribo un comentario sobre la magnífica remodelación acometida en este antiguo sanatorio, y hoy convertido en magnífico hotel. Me gusta el estilo sobrio de Souto de Moura y su exquisita combinación de materiales que hacen relajante la estancia. El relax se ve truncado abruptamente por el ruido de la puerta de ascensor del hall central. Es una puesta de acero, pesada, que al cerrar impacta estrepitosamente produciendo un espasmo que recorre todo el edificio. Es algo sencillo de corregir y que este hotel no puede permitirse mantener ni un minuto más. Reciban un afectuoso saludo y mis felicitaciones a nivel general.
Pousada in Serra da Estrela was just lovely. Beautiful rooms, magnificent scenery, friendly welcome and brand new fitting and rooms. Highly recommend to anyone a truly lovely and inspirational place to stay!
