Description
Hotel Evora
Located in the heart of historic Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the beautiful Pousada of Evora was originally a 15th century convent. It has been carefully restored, retaining the wonderful ornately painted walls and ceilings and sumptuously decorated with rich velvet upholstery and gilt mirrors. The hotel itself is considered one of Evora’s most impressive historic buildings.
This Hotel in Evora has 36 rooms, including 4 superior rooms and 6 suites which are located in the convent´s former dormitory cells, so what they lack in size they make up for in character. All rooms have en-suite bathroom, air conditioning/heating, minibar, bathrobes, hairdryer, safe, telephone, cable TV and internet access.
Hotel Loios
The Hotel Loios has an elegant terrace and an outdoor swimming pool. Its atmospheric restaurant is located in the convent’s former cloisters.

My wife and I stayed (unfortunately) only one night at Pousada do Loios in May 2015. I say “unfortunately” because it was one of our best accommodations in almost a month in Portugal. The hotel is superbly located in the center of Evora. Created from part of an ancient monastery, it is both elegant and historic. Our large two-room suite (101) was particularly so. It’s named after King Joao V (who may once have stayed in it) and the large, high-ceilinged sitting room still has the painted walls and ceiling of a couple hundred years ago. Quite wonderful. Also well equipped and impeccably clean. The staff at reception were extraordinarily welcoming and helpful, even if a bit understaffed at peak hours of the day. The bar and the pool were quite pleasant. The dining room was set in the old cloisters, which were lovely. The food, while not the best we had in Portugal, was fine. The cost of the room was reasonable considering what we got in return. Overall, it was a great place to stay.
Stayed at Pousada in Evora, Hotel dos Loios for 2 nights Oct 30-31 2012. Had a wonderful time. the staff was very friendly and the food fine. The standard room we stayed in was rather small and would only recommend a larger room
We are great fans of Pousadas. The Pousada at Evora is in a fantastic situation and the reception staff are most welcoming. However the service in the restaurant was abysmal, and this really impacts on the quality of the stay. Dining room service in other Pousadas is definitely better. A challenge for you!
Vivre dans cet hôtel, ancien monastère, est une belle expérience!!! Ouvrir la porte de sa chambre et se retrouver au premier étage d’un cloître, manger dans ce même cloître au RDC est magique. C’est franchement une expérience à vivre.
We stayed for two nights in October, 2013 and loved the hotel. The location and the public rooms were wonderful, and made up for the small though cleverly renovated bedrooms. The staff was outstanding, helpful with everything in the hotel and in selecting restaurants nearby. I really liked how we never had to see our car again once it was parked by the doorman!
