  • Pousada Mosteiro do Crato – Hotel Flor da Rosa

The Pousada of Crato in Alentejo Portugal is an architectural masterpiece. Previously a Palace, Convent and Castle, this hotel in Crato has been converted into a luxurious hotel

    Description

The Hotel Flor Da Rosa has incorporated many original features from its former existences as a Palace, Convent and Castle. The castle was the home of the Hospitallers of the Order of Malta and their distinctive motif is featured throughout the Pousada.

The Hotel Crato, is on the northern edge of the Alentejo region, and has been beautifully converted by carefully blending the traditional with modern conveniences. The hotel’s elegant swimming pool is surrounded by beautiful, lush gardens and is the perfect place to relax and unwind under the hot Alentejan sun.

The Hotel Crato has 24 rooms, including 5 superior rooms and 3 suites. All rooms have en-suite bathroom, heating/air conditioning, minibar, bathrobes, hairdryer, safe, cable TV and internet access. One of the luxury suites is located in the castle’s medieval tower, in a former dungeon.

The Crato Pousada’s restaurant is worth a visit due to its excellent menu and its unique and unforgettable ambience.

This Pousada was invited to join the exclusive ‘Small Luxury Hotels of the World’ Group in January 2015 in recognition of its unique location, luxury accommodation and excellent customer service.

    Testimonials

5 testimonials for Pousada Mosteiro do Crato – Hotel Flor da Rosa

    1. We stayed one very comfortable night at this wonderful, peaceful pousada, Our room ,which had very efficient aircon, was huge with a good sized bathroom,
The modern swimming pool area was attractively set in pretty gardens and, after a long drive, was a lovely facility in which to cool down and relax.
The staff were helpful and the food was excellent, we would stay here again.

    2. We stayed for 2 nights, the pousada is really good balance of old and new, excellent size rooms with all amenities you would want. Staff friendly but didn’t speak much English. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and gave a very peaceful start to our holiday. It is definetly a place to relax and wind down.

    3. We stayed three nights at the Pousada. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place to get over jet lag. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant – I would highly recommend the prawns with black pasta.

    4. We pre-booked for 3 nights and weren’t disappointed. We loved the Pousada with all it’s old world charm. Our room was lovely and we could sit out on our balcony. Very peaceful. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.

    5. While we were happy to have visited this Posada because of its architecture and history, I found the dining room quite dull and uninteresting. The staff were friendly and the food good. Room was comfortable. This was a very quiet location.

Pousada flor da rosa is an extraordinary place. Rarely will you find masterful joining of historic and modern architectures, let alone at a hotel. the modern addition is brilliantly done, as is the restoration/intervention with the medieval construction. the detailing, decor, and general taste- level is so high that i was rather surprised. The environment is so peaceful and secluded, but let's you have close relations with the land - olive trees, cork oaks, herds of sheep just outside - each with its own bell ringing when shepherded.
This is a place that understands and reflects just what and where it is. we ended up staying an extra night as we loved it there so much
