Set in a medieval Moorish Castle, the stunning Pousada of Alcacer do Sal overlooks the River Sado in Alentejo, Portugal

    Description

The Pousada Alcacer do Sal is a focal point of the town, whose history stretches back 5000 years. This luxurious hotel, in the town centre, incorporates the castellated walls and towers of the original structure, ancient stonework and a Baroque coat of arms whilst injecting modern touches which compliment the traditional.

The swimming pool and large terrace of the Hotel Dom Afonso II are set against the stunning backdrop of the original castle structure. It provides a magical ambiance in which to enjoy magnificent views over the Sado River.

    Testimonials

4 testimonials for Pousada Castelo de Alcacer do Sal – Hotel Dom Afonso II

    1. We enjoyed two nights here in April and found everything most comfortable and all the staff very helpful and friendly. Just before departing, by chance, we came upon the wonderful archaeological vault exhibition and feel this should be promoted more by the Pousada as no-one would want to miss it.

    2. We stayed here 2 nights. Upon our arrival we received a warm welcome, after check-in we were helped with our luggage and escorted to our room. The room was delightful and had a great balcony with a wonderful view. Just wandering around the castle was a great experience. We were looking for a restaurant and were given a few suggestions, we ended up eating at all suggested and had great meals. The breakfast was good and plentiful. Was sorry that we didn’t try the restaurant at the Pousada as we did try dinner at other ones we stayed and found the food to be excellent. We will return.

    3. We stayed one night along with our sister and Brother in law. What a wonderful experience! Dinner and breakfast was special and first class. The rooms were incredible and the people that worked there we’re warn, friendly and made our stat a joy. Thank yo and we will return for a longer stay
